Chase champ chasing more silverware

At Goulburn on Tuesday, Good Odds Harada took his winnings to $1,139,650 with an additionally $2,000 joining the $1 million he won last Friday night, with victory in a heat of the Goulburn Cup.

And judging by the performance at his first look at the track and the box draw for next Sunday’s Final, that figure is a short-price to be boosted by another $25,000.

The Frank Hurst-trained sprinter jumped straight to the lead form box one and was never headed, clocking 24.61s for the 440m trip. The time was more than two lengths faster than the next best, and when he drew box three for the final, it was difficult to find someone willing to tip against him.

While Harada made it through, his brother Good Odds Buddy won’t be in the final, finishing third in his heat behind Lightning Vision. The Neil Staines-trained winner clocked 24.93s but has posted 24.60s in the past at the track, a track where he has now won six out of seven starts.

Jodie Lord trained the other two heat winners, Wynburn Lilly and Spookie Vision, ironically both clocked the identical time of 24.78s.

“They were both handy runs,” Jodie’s husband Andy said. “Spookie Vision has always been a handy greyhound, but Wynburn Lilly – all those Wynburn dogs we got form Tasmania, and they are all starting to go really good.”

The Goulburn Cup is the first regional cup to benefit from the recent GRNSW prizemoney increases, taking the event from $10,000 to the winner to now be $25,000 to the victorious connections.

Heats of the Goulburn Workers Club Fireball over the 350m were also held on Tuesday with the impressive winner Here Comes Joe, trained by Jihad Estephan.

Here Comes Joe clocked 19.65s in his seven length win, just shadowing the time of Anthony Azzopardi’s Myrniong And All (19.74s), with Fabulous Penny winning the other heat in 19.81s.
