Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) will increase the number of races at specific race meetings, introduce a Non-TAB travel subsidy and move to centralised prizemoney for all Non-TAB meetings as part of changes for the 2017/18 racing season.
Metro entry race meetings will also be staged at more tracks and there will be a greater spread of TAB B and TAB C meetings held across NSW, to ensure more racing opportunities are provided to greyhounds of all ability.
Race meetings will increase to 12 races each at The Gardens, Casino and Grafton which each regularly have high nomination levels, while the number of races at Dapto and Bulli will revert to 10 as these two tracks have consistently low nomination levels.
The travel subsidy currently paid to runners at TAB meetings will also be extended to the Non-TAB sector. The travel subsidy for Non-TAB meetings will be $20 for every greyhound engaged in a race.
In addition, prizemoney for all Non-TAB race meetings will be paid via GRNSW’s centralised prizemoney payment system. This will mean no prizemoney will be paid at any Non-TAB tracks.
Given this change, GRNSW encourages all participants to ensure their bank account details with GRNSW are current and correct.
Owners are also reminded that they need to notify GRNSW of the prizemoney splits that they would like applied to each of their greyhounds. To do this, owners need to submit a Change of Prizemoney Split form.
In relation to meeting category changes at TAB tracks, metro entry racing will be extended to Dapto, The Gardens and Gosford which will join Bulli, Lismore, Maitland and Richmond in staging this category of racing.
In addition, Casino, Dubbo, Goulburn, Grafton, Lismore and Wagga will also stage a mixture of TAB B and TAB C meetings in 2017/18.
The changes to the distribution of prizemoney between different meeting categories at TAB tracks is aimed at addressing one of the key recommendations of the Joint Working Group, being to improve access, incentives and increase career longevity for greyhounds in all areas of NSW.
