Frisco Bay, looks a hot chance at Goulburn today

John Chapman should be rewarded for a long trip with two winners at today’s Goulburn meeting.

The NSW Central West trainer has two strong contenders, Blitzkrieg and Will’s Magic, looking strong chances to salute.

Blitzkrieg jumps from box eight in the first of four heats of the 5th grade Palmerbet Goulburn To Bulli Series (race four, 440m) aiming to improve his career record of four wins and 13 minor placings from 27 starts.

The son of Blitiz To Excel and Tricky Misty has scored four placings in his last five starts and has run some strong races at the NSW country tracks.

He has placed once in two previous starts from box eight but looks the strongest of these.

Newcomer Will’s Magic (box seven) has gone unplaced in his last two starts but can return to winning ways in the second heat (race five).

The son of Magic Sprite and Tricky Misty scored two wins in his first four starts at Lithgow and Bathurst and has had a three-week break, so should be freshened for this.

Cape Spectre (box eight) has been below par recently but can score a win in the third heat for trainer Graham Fishburn.

The son of Cape Hawke and Swan Hill has gone unplaced in his last five starts but has raced well over the 350m at Goulburn and if back at best can defeat these.

Frisco Bay (box five) continued his impressive recent form with victory at Goulburn last week and looks one of the best bets of the day in the fourth heat (race seven).

Trained by Canyonleigh’s Matthew Matic, the consistent newcomer has scored one win and seven minor placings in his last eight starts.

Frisco Bay won from this box over the 350m last week but can step up in distance here with a win.

In other Goulburn action, Calimero (box five) looks the top pick in a quality 4/5th grade Workers Club Stakes (race nine, 350m).

Trained by astute Bringelly mentor Mark Wilcox, Calimero has won twice and placed twice in six previous races wearing the yellow rug.

He won over the 350m at Goulburn last year in a smart 20.13 and should be freshened for this after a month off.

Eleven races are on the card and action starts at 12.12pm.
